Victims react to arrests in shootings

PENSACOLA, Fla (WALA) - Pensacola police have arrested two men in connection with three drive-by shootings in Pensacola.

Many folks have been feeling uneasy in the area of East Strong Street where the shootings took place.

But Tyrone Vanderhall, whose home was the target of two of them, was shocked.

"When this happened, it was mine and my wife's 34th wedding anniversary, and they brought it in with a bang. I can tell you that wasn't very pleasant," said Vanderhall.

Police said William Johnson and Aaron Allen are responsible for the shootings that began on Tuesday around 8:15 p. m.
They said a red or maroon vehicle rolled up around Sixth Avenue and Desoto Street and shot at two teenagers, hitting one in the leg.

That same night, Vanderhall's home was shot at, three bullets hitting a parked car and the side of his home.

Vanderhall's home was targeted once again on Wednesday around midnight.

He said the shootings have shaken the entire neighborhood.

"What I'm concerned about is my neighbors. I'm worried about my neighbor with a day care and the neighbor next to me. It's not good for them at all," Vanderhall said.

The arrests of Johnson and Allen come on the heels of a measure by the Pensacola Police Department that will see every available officer on the streets to stop the violence.

Paulette Reynolds also lives in the home.

"My mind is still boggled, and I just feel tired. It's like I haven't rested. It's drained me a lot," said Reynolds.

Investigators said despite the arrests, they believe other people involved in the shootings are still out there.

"We haven't been able to feel at home, and it's like we've been violated. There's a way of settling your differences, and this isn't it. Hopefully, the police get the other people," Vanderhall said.

The Pensacola Police Department said they are watching Vanderhall's home closely for any retaliation.

They are still investigating motives in the crimes.

Johnson and Allen are being held in Escambia County Jail charged with attempted murder.

If you have any information on the crimes, contact the Pensacola Police Department at (850) 435-1900.
