PENSACOLSA, Fla. (WALA) - Officials for the Blue Wahoos said they have will be unveiling something special on July 28. The Saturday night fireworks at the Blue Wahoos game will be capped off with the premiere of a new Pensacola-themed music video, "Build It Up," celebrating the city's progress and momentum.
The video was commissioned by Blue Wahoos owners Quint and Rishy Studer, with original music written by Allen Pote and performed by the Pensacola Children's Chorus Young Singers.
"Rishy and I love this city, and we wanted to create something that tapped into that sense of pride we all share," Quint Studer said. "The Potes and the Children's Chorus are such wonderful assets to this community, so it was great to have their involvement."
Allen Pote, Director of the Pensacola Children’s Chorus said, "We're happy to be able to give back to the community that has supported the Children’s Chorus so much over the years."
Officials told FOX10 the video includes footage of community gatherings, beloved landmarks and new construction projects and explains that despite over 450 years of "taking the hits" from both natural and man-made disasters, Pensacola "keeps moving forward."
Tying the video's elements together are clips of the Young Singers performing the "Build It Up" song in the Saenger Theatre, along with a Spanish-style mosaic of the word "Pensacola" created by local artist Michael Dicks, who also designed and built the iconic Pelican Drop sculpture.
"We are a diverse city with a rich heritage," said Joe Vinson, the video's director. "The mosaic and images represent how we're all individual pieces of a larger picture, and that together we're greater than the sum of our parts."
Fans in attendance at the Saturday premiere will receive free wristbands directing them to a new website, UpPensacola.com which will launch after the premiere. The site will host a streaming version of the 90-second video can be seen after Saturday’s premiere, along with a downloadable MP3 copy of the song, “Build It Up,” performed by the Young Singers.
