SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. - Jay

Saturday

  • 10th annual Jay Celebration Freedom 5K and One Mile Fun Run: 6:00 p.m., Jay City Park, 5259 Booker Lane, Jay. The patriotic race will begin and end at the city park. Runners will loop around Jay Elementary and Jay High as they pass the neighboring countryside. The last half of the course is on a paved road between cotton and peanut fields. Awards will be presented to top finishers, master runners, grand master runners and senior grand master runners. Day-of-race registration begins at 4:30 p.m., and costs $20.   • Stars & Stripes Parade: 7 p.m., Milton High School to Pine St., via Stewart, Berryhill and Willing streets. Pre-registration required. $20 per motorized unit/float; $5 per individual entry/walker.

Saturday

  • Eighth annual Firecracker Bike Show: 9:00 a.m. to noon, S. Willing St. $10 registration day of show. Awards presentation, 1:00 p.m. at South Pavilion.
     
  • Freedom Car Show: 9:00 a.m. to noon, N. Willing St. Free registration. Awards presentation, 1:00 p.m. North Willing Stage.
     
  • Boat Parade: 10:00 a.m., Carpenters Park Boat Ramp Area. Pre-registration required, $10.
  • Children's Activities: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, 5203 Elmira St.
  • Treasure Island Children's Activity Area: 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., North Gazebo. Adult-chaperoned activities for children.
     
  • Blackwater River Pirate Attack: 2:00 p.m., near Veterans Memorial Plaza.
     
  • Great MillTown Duck Race: 5:00 p.m., Blackwater River. Sponsor a duck for $5.
     
  • Pensacola Youth Steel Orchestra concert: 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., North Willing Stage.
     
  • Veterans Salute: 6:00 p.m., Veterans Memorial Plaza.
     
  • Joe Occhipinti in concert: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., First United Methodist Church, 6819 Berryhill St.
     
  • Karaoke with Boogie Inc.: 7:00 p.m., South Pavilion.
     
  • Fireworks: Begin at nightfall over the Blackwater River.

Pace

Friday

  • Independence Day Celebration: Friday, Santa Rosa Soccer Complex. The Pace Fire Rescue District and Futbol Club of Santa Rosa are in the process of coordinating a free celebration that will include a fireworks show, children’s activities, a cake sale and concession foods. Thursday

  • Thursday Evenings in Navarre Park: 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, Navarre Park at the foot of the Navarre Bridge. Free summer concert series. 939-3267.
  • Navarre Beach Fireworks: 9:00 p.m. Thursday, over Navarre Sound, just east of the Navarre Bridge. Those attending Thursday Evenings in Navarre Park will have the perfect view of the display. 939-3267.

Saturday

  • Pancake breakfast benefitting WWII Vets: 8:00 to 10:00 a.m., Cocodrie's Restaurant, 8649 Gulf Blvd., Navarre. Begin Independence Day with a hearty breakfast of pancakes, eggs, bacon, tater-tots and a drink while supporting World War II Veterans. Breakfast tickets are $10. Tickets may be purchased Friday at the restaurant or Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, and the restaurant the day of the event. Proceeds will benefit the Emerald Coast Honor Flight, a program designed to send WWII Veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit the WWII Memorial. Details: Brooke Volland, 939-8777.
