MILTON, Fla. (WALA) - Two days after a fire broke out, Tiffanie Jackson and her son Justin Jackson, 12, were sifting through what's left of their Milton home.

Justin was in the home Saturday night with his three younger brothers and his little sister when the fire began.

If it wasn't for Justin, they might have never gotten out.

"He's a hero in my eyes because he saved my babies," said Tiffanie.

Justin and his brothers were asleep in the living room when they say a loud noise woke them up. What they saw were flames engulfing the wall behind them.

Justin jumped into action, getting his brothers William, 5, Diego, 6, and Emilio, 9, out of the house.

The second time Justin ran into their burning home, it was to save his three-year-old sister Brooklyn.

He couldn't get her bedroom door open, so he kicked it open and rescued her from her bed, where she was still asleep.

"It was hard to even pick her up because she was so stiff and scared. I almost tripped over something. I was afraid I was going to trip," Justin said.

Justin said he navigated through smoke to get her out.

But he wasn't done - he went back in a third time.

"He thought, 'I have to get a phone to call somebody. I have to call my mom or 911.' But the phone didn't work because it was already melted," said Tiffanie.

On his way out again, he also managed to get two of the family's dogs.

A passerby spotted the blaze and called 911.

Despite everything, Justin said he doesn't consider himself a hero.

"He said, 'I just want to be regular, Mom. I did what I had to do to save my family, and that's all.' But I said, 'No matter how you look at it, you're my hero. You'll always be my hero. You're everybody's hero.'"

"Safe, I felt saved. He was our only big brother," Emilio Jackson said about being rescued by his big brother.

The two dogs pulled out of the fire later died and one is still missing.

The State Fire Marshal is investigation the cause of the blaze.

Tiffanie Jackson was working a night shift at a local nursing home at the time of the fire. Tiffanie's husband Dewayne Jackson works out of state.

If you'd like to help the family, donations are being taken at Rhodes Elementary School as well as the Ferris Hill Baptist Church .
