SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. (WALA) - Officials said Tuesday around 3:30 a.m the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Tom Thumb on Avalon Boulevard in reference to a hold up alarm.
When deputies arrived, they said they found that the clerk had been robbed. According to officials, the suspect approached on foot from the north side of the building and entered with his face covered, wielding a hammer.
Deputies said the suspect also had socks on his hands.
Investigators said the suspect received a small amount of cash and fled the store on foot.
Additional deputies and K-9 arrived in an attempt to locate the suspect; however the search was not successful.
No injuries occurred. No suspects are known at this time.
