COFFEEVILLE, Ala. (WALA) - A Southern Choctaw High School student is killed when the bus he was riding on overturned around midnight Friday. The bus was carrying 35 passengers. They were heading home from their Friday night football game against Flomaton High School in Escambia County Alabama.

Alabama State Troopers Cpl. Steven Smith says 15-year-old Otties William Brewer III of Silas died when the bus overturned after being hit by a 1999 Nissan Maxima that failed to yield at a stop sign.

One passenger in the car and 26 other passengers on the bus were taken to hospitals where they were treated and released.

Players, coaches and parents were on the bus when the wreck happened at the intersection of Highways 84 and 69 in Coffeeville according to the Clarke County EMA dirctor, Roy Waite.

Southern Choctaw High School is located on Highway 17 in Gilbertown.

Smith says the accident is still under investigation.
