PERDIDO, Ala. - A teenager was shot while hunting in Baldwin County, Thursday afternoon, December 17, 2009.
The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office says it appears the shooting was accidental, but they are still investigating.
Tanner Boatwright, 15, was hunting near 22825 CR 61 in Perdido, AL, with two friends. The three hunters were on a deer drive in a wooded area when Boatwright was hit with 2 “00” buckshot pellets. It happened when one or both of Boatwright's friends shot at a deer near him.
Boatwright was shot in the lower back. He was taken to a hospital in Atmore before being transferred to USA Medical Center in Mobile. Investigators say his injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
This case will continue under investigation and be reviewed by a
Baldwin County Grand Jury.
