FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. - At just four-days-old, young Ryan Warf has a lot of energy. He proved it when he entered the world three weeks early. It happened as his mom, Nicole Oglesby, was being driven to the hospital.
"I told him it was time to go, I had to go. I started pushing right when we got in the car," said Oglesby.
Oglesby and the father, James Warf, still had about five miles to go to get to the hospital.
Oglesby said, "I was holding onto the seat belt thing the whole time. I had like one leg up, the other straight up, but I was sitting up straight up and out."
The baby couldn't wait. "It was Beal Street when I actually had the head out, holding it with one hand," said Oglesby.
The baby's father has had training in delivering babies but he couldn't help because he was in the drivers seat. Warf said, "I was trying to calm her down and trying to drive, I didn't see what was actually was going on until we slowed down when we turned onto Mar Walt."
That's when he saw the baby in her arms. Oglesby pushed one last time and Ryan was born. "He had the cord around his neck, I took it off and I threw him on my chest. It all came so natural. After the fact I was like 'oh my God, I can't believe that happened, how did I know what to do.'"
Friends and family members can't believe it either. They're now stopping by to hear the story first hand and to make sure everyone is okay.
"The miracle is, there is nothing wrong with him, he's three weeks early," said Warf.
