PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - There is still about a week to go until Saint Patrick's Day, but this weekend is when the big festivities kick off. McGuire's Pub in Pensacola holds a St. Patrick's Day themed race, with a huge afterparty. FOX10 News went to find out what goes into putting on this party.

Three different bottles of liquor, and two gallons of orange juice; that's what goes into making an Irish Wake. Britt Johnson is making 700 gallons of it.

"All for a great cause, we have a lot of fun," said Johnson

It's the 33rd annual McGuire's St. Patrick's Day race. Around 10,000 people are expected to run it, and McGuire's is getting ready for what happens after the race

"We've got 60 kegs of beer, introducing McGurie's draft ale. We're making 700 gallons of Irish wake, 700 cases of Irish stew, all systems go," said Perry Hunter, manager of McGuire's.

One of the runners, who has been doing the race for 10 years, was there warming up.

"It's tough to get to the starting line, if you are a competitive runner you want to get to the front, runners are as far back as a block or so," Tim O'Hartigan said.

It's a prediction race, and runners are supposed to predict their 5K time. Whoever is closest, wins! But at the end of the day, they're not running for a pot of gold, but for a good cause and a good time. The proceeds from the race are donated to the Pensacola Police Department.

Registration for the race is Friday and Saturday. You can also register online at www.mcguiresrunners.com .
