MOBILE, Alabama (WALA) - A frightening scene in west Mobile County as a family wakes up to a truck in their backyard. Even worse, it was submerged in their pond. It happened at the intersection of Grand Bay Wilmer Road and Tom Gaston Road. The owner of the truck had been reported missing, but this story ends on a good note.

Mobile County Sheriff's Deputies and Alabama State Troopers were called to a home on Grand Bay Wilmer Road just before 10 a.m. What they found was a truck, completely submerged in a pond.

The tag of the truck came back to 63-year-old Milton Wells. Wells' family had reported him missing to Mobile Police at 2:40 a.m. and told police he suffered from alzheimers. Flotilla searched the pond and Wells was not found.

This story however, has a happy ending. Just before 1:30 p.m., Milton Wells was found walking down the road. Almost 11 hours after he was reported missing.

"I'm a retired deputy, that's just my job. My day is complete," said Glen White.

White found Wells. He said he stopped at the home when he saw all of the emergency vehicles. He said he was worried about his neighbors. White said they told him Wells wasn't found, so White went searching. Within minutes he saw a man walking.

"I pulled over and said would you happen to be Mr. Wells? He said my truck would work with all the water in it. I said let me take you back," White said.

White said Wells kept trying to pay him for helping him. White told him he just wanted to make sure he was safe.

"He said I've been walking all night. I'm so tired. I told him to rest in the car," White said.

When White pulled up many of Wells' family members were there to greet him. Wells was taken by ambulance to a local hospital to be checked out.

It is not known what made Wells veer off the road. The owners of the pond and Wells' family members are just happy everyone is ok.
