JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi House passed a resolution Wednesday seeking to bypass Gov. Haley Barbour so the state can get all $2.8 billion of its federal stimulus money.

But the resolution is likely to die in the Senate.

Barbour, a Republican, says he'll reject about $56 million that would provide unemployment compensation to part-time workers.

Mississippi only allows payments to people willing to work full-time, and Barbour says he doesn't want to change state policies to get temporary federal money.

Republican Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant presides over the Senate and says he supports Barbour's decision to reject part of the unemployment money.
