GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - People who knew Baldwin Wood said he had one great love, his 30 foot vessel called the Nydia.

Wood and his boat spent much of the first half of the 20th century sailing around the Mississippi Gulf.

On Thursday, the sailing sloop returned home to where it was built more than 100 years ago.

The 30-foot sailboat hasn't seen water for about 50 years. It arrived in Gulfport by truck.

When restored will be given a place of honor at the Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum when it opens in Biloxi in 2011, said museum director Robin Krohn David.
