VICKSBURG, Miss. (AP) — A teenager charged with bringing a handgun to Vicksburg High School has been released from jail on a $15,000 bond.
Police Lt. Sandra Williams tells the Vicksburg Post (http://bit.ly/137UgHF ) that the 17-year-old was released Thursday morning.
The teen was arrested Wednesday after school officials were tipped off that he had brought a handgun to school. Williams says the youth has been charged with one count of possessing a weapon on school property.
Williams says a school resource officer disarmed the teenager without incident and arrested him.
Vicksburg Warren School District Superintendent Elizabeth Swinford says the youth will face a disciplinary review committee to determine his punishment. He has been suspended.
