TUNICA, Miss. (AP) — Tunica tourism officials think there's no better way to see what the area has to offer than from the seat of a bicycle.

They're hoping others will agree once they become acquainted with new bike trails connecting downtown Tunica with DeSoto County and with the Delta along the Mississippi River.

The Commercial Appeal reports (http://bit.ly/UPDLwn ) a groundbreaking and public opening for the paths is planned for March 23, with Tunica County Sheriff K.C. Hamp and Tunica Mayor Chuck Cariker among the expected riders.

The trails start and end at downtown Tunica.

The longer of the two trails, 27 miles round-trip, runs from Rivergate Park downtown into DeSoto County and back, while a shorter 13-mile round-trip path runs from Rivergate to MhoonLanding Park and back.
