GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - Authorities say a relative of a Gulfport man injured in a recent explosion of military-grade munitions has been taken into federal custody on a firearms charge.
The Sun Herald reports court papers allege Jack Wilson has told federal agents he was living alone in a camper on the property where the explosion occurred Jan. 19. Authorities say he admitted he was in possession of an SKS rifle and a Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun found inside the camper.
The explosion seriously injured 33-year-old Dale Ray Johnson, who was discharged from a hospital Friday. Local public-safety officials and relatives have said he was cutting on an anti-tank round to sell it for scrap when it exploded.
It was unclear whether Wilson had an attorney.
