MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - When FOX10 News spoke with Natalie Lewis a few weeks ago, she knew bringing her four adopted children from Haiti would be a challenge. She left for Haiti in mid-January, right after the earthquake, to rescue her children. But when ten Americans were arrested for trying to bring 33 children across the border without paperwork, Lewis knew that would present a problem for her.

"We know that anything negative like that, all it ends up doing is hurting all of us that are doing things right. It makes it that much harder. It adds one more step to the process," said Lewis.

Thankfully, Lewis had the right paperwork to show she was nearly finished with the adoption process, so she asked for emergency visas. One of the kids received the visa last week, but Lewis didn't have any guarantee the other three would be granted visa's as well.

She had to make a heartbreaking decision.

"My lawyer in Haiti advised me to let her go, and to not wait, just because things change by the moment in Haiti right now," she said.

So one of her adopted daughters arrived in Miami Saturday in the care of a guardian, while Lewis stayed behind fighting for the right to bring the other three children home.

"I just wanted to see them all home," Lewis added.

Tuesday, Lewis got her wish. She and her other three children were on a flight to the U.S.

She hoped to be reunited with her other daughter Wednesday night.

FOX10 did give Lewis a flip camera to document her trip. We hope to share those images with you as soon as she gets back to the Gulf Coast.
