FBI warrant for NIU police sought array of info

CHICAGO (AP) — An FBI warrant for the Northern Illinois University police station raided this week includes a 21-point list of information being sought.

One section seeks communications between recently fired NIU police chief Donald Grady and NIU Vice President Eddie Williams.

The six-page warrant was released Friday by NIU to The Associated Press and other media under the Freedom of Information Act.

Most of the document seeks a wide array of police data, including operations manuals and dispatcher logs. It doesn't mention any allegations or describe the target of the investigation.

NIU fired Grady last month, claiming he mishandled evidence.

Earlier Friday, Williams took a leave of absence, saying he wanted to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest with the investigation.

Lawyers for both men say they've done nothing wrong.
