MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - According to the Florida State Attorney's office, Richard Owen is facing a handful of charges for the shooting deaths of the two horses last month.

Authorities say Owen shot and killed two horses that belonged to his ex-girlfriend Shannon Bayhi on May 15.

One horse is believed to have suffered before it died so Owen faces a felony charge, described as "causing cruel death."

The other horse died instantly, so it's a misdemeanor charge of "causing unnecessary death."

Owen will also face two misdemeanor animal neglect charges for neglecting to care and provide for them.
