ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WALA) - The Escambia County Sheriff's Office said it needs your help with a death investigation.

Investigators said some citizens found a decomposed body near Airport Boulevard and Memory Lane on Saturday, March 10.

"At this point we don't have a whole lot. So we are asking for the public if they recognize Mr. Bass or if they know him or know anything about him or his death," said Public Information Sgt. Mike Ward, Escambia County Sheriff's Office.

Escambia County investigators said he's Everett James Bass IV, but that's about all they know.

Investigators discovered Bass's identity through fingerprints. They said he had been arrested and booked before.

Next of kin have been notified, but investigators would like to know what happened to Bass.

"Investigators have been in touch with them trying to found out what he's about, where he lived, why he was around here this area, if he had any known relatives, associates, or friends in this area," said Sgt. Ward.

Sheriff's investigators are waiting for the medical examiner's official cause of death. They are treating this case as suspicious until they can find out more.

Call Escambia County Sheriff's Office at (850)436-9630 or Gulf Coast Crime Stoppers at (850)433-STOP,  or toll free at 877-43 -TIPS.
