ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WALA) - A Cantonment man claimed shots were fired at both his home and his truck. But, the man claiming to be a victim, is now in jail. Police said, he was making the whole thing up, and he could be facing even more charges.

In December, John Bryant told FOX10 News someone had shot up his truck.

"I heard a boom, I thought I hit the curve. I kind of slowed down and another shot, boom. I took off and pulled up in the driveway and called 9-1-1," said Bryant on December 13, 2009.

This wasn't Bryant's only claim. He also has reported to authorities shots were fired at his home. The Escambia County Sheriff's office said none of the allegations are true.

"He had numerous reports coming in recently. We had some tips for some other people saying something isn't right with this guy," said Sgt. Ted Roy with the Escambia County Sheriff's Department.

Investigators said they dug deeper into Bryant's claims.

"Every time we investigate it never adds up. We started seeing him be a victim with so many crimes and it started raising eyebrows. We started working on it and found out he was lying," Roy said.

Roy said Bryant has filed at least 30 reports over the last couple of years, but this isn't it. Roy said there are still open cases the Sheriff's Department is working on and said there could be more charges in the near future.

Deputies believe Bryant made up the stories with the intention of framing someone else. When asked if Bryant shot his own truck and home himself, deputies would not confirm.
