Searches done in court computer breach

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Law enforcement officials have recently searched several offices as part of an investigation into a breach of Alabama's computerized court record system.

A memo from state court administrator Callie Dietz to court officials statewide said law enforcement officers searched the Madison County Clerk's Office, the Administrative Office of Courts in Montgomery, the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center, and two private residences.

Chief Justice Sue Bell Cobb told The Huntsville Times that the investigation does not involve any judges or their staffs. No arrests have been made.

The breach of the state's computerized court records was discovered in June 2008. The state Department of Public Safety is working on the investigation with the U.S. attorney's office and the Secret Service.
