PENSACOLA, Florida (WALA) - Bullets tore through a Pensacola home early Thursday morning. Deputies said suspects targeted a house on Comet Court. However, it didn't appear to be a random attack.

"Very scary because it seems like the shots were never going to stop," Sheila Travis said.

Shattered glass and bullet holes surround Travis' home. The victim said someone opened fire early Thursday morning.

"We heard six shots. My neighbor actually knocked on my door and told me she heard gun shots so we came outside. Escambia County came out and assessed the situation and they collected six shells," Travis added.

Travis thought it was someone shooting in the air. She said she went back to sleep and was startled again about an hour later. Travis said the gunmen came back to the house a second time after the deputies left. This time, they fired a hail of bullets into her home.

"So I went back and laid down in the bed and I heard breaking of glass and gun fire. So I fell out of the bed and rolled on the floor and I crawled in my bathroom and laid in the tub until I could hear the shots stop firing. Once they stopped, I could hear them trying to get inside the door so I jumped through the window and ran outside to my neighbor's house," Travis said.

Travis said she found a few bullet holes in her car and counted at least 36 more inside the house. After such a scary incident, Travis is counting her blessings.

"Thank God I'm still here. Thank God my daughter wasn't here because this is her bedroom window and the shots went through it and actually landed right above her bed," explained Travis.

"Investigators are working hard to find out who did this," Melissa Rawson with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office said.

The victim, who is also a bail bondsman, has her own idea of who may have done this.

"Doing the business I do, it could have been one of my clients that jumped bail. This one guy I'm looking for could be upset because he doesn't want to go to jail, I'm not sure," Travis said.

While officials search for leads and suspects, Travis is leaving the area and her job for a while.

Neighbors said they believe they saw a gold colored car, possibly a Cavalier or Malibu leaving near the scene of the crime.

If you know anything call the Escambia County Sheriff's Office.
