MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - After morning Mass at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception downtown, it was time for the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick to take to the streets.
Of course, you can't have an Irish parade without bag-pipes.
Then it was time to get down with the McGill High School band.
The parade had the blessings of current Archbishop Thomas Rodi, and Archbishop Emeritus Oscar Lipscomb, who retired in 2006.
The parade is one of Lipscomb's favorite parades.
"I'm just a tag along, and I'm glad to get to watch," Lipscomb said.
The parade included floats, cars, and wagons, but most of the Friendly Son's were on foot. It's the best way to spread all that Irish love.
Clay Bedford has been parading for years, and it's always a great day.
"Lots of fun everywhere we go," Bedford said.
And there's more fun to come for the Friendly Sons, and their Irish friends.
"Today everyone's Irish," said Timothy Reardon
On St. Patrick's Day, it easy for anyone to feel just a wee bit Irish.
Warren Reilly Senior was the Grand Marshal for the parade this year. He's 100-years-old!
