Bus thief caught in transit

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Police in Mobile, Ala. got an unusual call after a transit bus was allegedly stolen. The bus driver told police she left the bus parked at an intersection with the keys in the ignition.

When she went back to the location, the bus was gone.

Just down the street the suspect, later identified as Barry Parr, picked up resident Jason Cole. As Cole boarded the bus, he noticed that the driver looked presentable from the waist up, so he thought nothing of the otherwise empty bus.

Then the driver started asking some strange questions.

"He asked me for some cigarettes and some money," said Cole. "I told him I never smoked and I don't know what he's talking about."

That's when Cole noticed that the driver wasn't wearing any shoes.

About 30 minutes later, an officer caught up with the bus.

Parr was arrested and charged with first degree theft of property.
