PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - UPDATE 3/31/2010: Warren Williams has entered a not guilty plea in court for the shooting death of his father, William Williams.
3/12/2010: A 14-year-old is behind bars on murder charges. Investigators say the teenager shot and killed his father. Now, a grand jury will have to decide whether the young suspect will be charged as an adult.
Warren Williams barely stands 5' tall. The eighth grader goes to Brown Barge Middle School. Police say he shot and killed his father William, in their home.
"Numerous shots fired, he was struck several times and was pronounced dead at the scene" said Pensacola Police department Assistant Chief Chip Simmons.
The shooting happened in an upscale Pensacola neighborhood. Williams was killed around 7:30 Thursday night. At the time, the child's mother was at a PTA meeting.
"The family is devastated, obviously from the loss of her husband and the arrest of her young son, they're dealing with that right now," the child's lawyer Barry Beroset said.
Warren Williams hasn't given police any idea why it happened. He was booked in the Escambia County Jail after investigators arrived on the scene.
"We're trying to piece together everything that happened that night ,maybe some historical stuff, develop a motive, the motive remains unclear" said Simmons
The mother and other family members were in court when Williams appeared before a judge Friday afternoon. No one wanted to comment.
Williams will remain in juvenile detention until March 25.
We requested a copy of the 9-1-1 call made from the home, we also asked for the arrest report. Police are not releasing them because they contain information that's important to the investigation.
