MOBILE, Alabama (WALA) - Graduation day means so much for high school students. But for one local teen, the day was even more special. Timothy Robinson crossed the stage with his classmates after overcoming tough obstacles. The teen's year at school was cut short when he was seriously injured during a football game. Graduation really was a celebration for many reasons.

As Pomp and Circumstance played, the LeFlore class of 2010 entered the Mitchell Center Arena. The cheers and applause amped up even more as speakers addressed the graduating class. Then it was the time students, family and friends waited for. The school principal announced each graduate's name. When it was time for Timothy Robinson to cross the stage and get his diploma, emotions ran high.

As he turned his tassel, he was truly excited and beaming with a smile that you could see from the top of the stands. Proud, he showed his number one and exuded a sense of determination and perseverance the crowd could feel. This ceremony wasn't the end, but the beginning for Timothy and his classmates.

"It means I get a chance to pursue my future. It feels great. Tim has gone through a lot and he tried really hard as long as I've known him," senior Thaddeus Lee said.

"To tell you the truth, I wanted to cry," Leland Collins said.

"God is good, all the time. When prayers go up, blessings come down," Collins' mother added.

For Timothy and his family, graduation left a sense of accomplishment in more ways than one.

"He did it. That was the main thing," Timothy's mother Evelyn McGhee said.

Timothy was home schooled and hit the books hard.

"Tim was eager. He was all into it, he wanted to do it. I said it's time to get in the books so we can graduate. I'm so overjoyed and overwhelmed with just the final finish with him finishing high school and starting to prepare for college and finish therapy so we can have total recovery," McGhee added.

A recovery that reached another milestone Thursday.

Afterward Timothy had a celebration at home. He plans to continue rehab, and hopes to enroll in online college classes within the next year.
