New York Senator Chuck Schumer made a plea for stores to stop selling assault rifles, at least temporarily.

He’s specifically urging major gun retailers, like Wal-Mart and Sports Authority, to suspend sales of modern assault-style weapons until Congress votes on legislation, aimed at curbing violence.

Sales of the weapons have already skyrocketed since the massacre at Newtown Elementary School last month.

Pro-gun activists have declared Tuesday, January 22, as “Gun Appreciation Day.”

What difference do you think it would make in the fight against gun violence if retail stores stopped selling assault rifles?
