Some lawmakers are renewing the push for legislation that would gives states the authority to order online retailers to collect sales taxes.
Many municipalities, like Mobile, rely on sales taxes to help pay for salaries and services. Some city leaders feel they are missing out on thousands of dollars in tax revenue that the city is entitled to. But many ecommerce advocates argue the new tax would be a burden to small sellers.
