MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - For years, United Cerebral Palsy of Mobile has had a dream: to build a sensory room to help special needs children learn and develop. Lack of funding held that dream off until Sunday, and thanks to the hard work of volunteers, it's now reality.

Andrea Moore with the Junior League of Mobile opened up the new sensory room at United Cerebral Palsy. The Junior League, along with the Mobile Homebuilders Association, came together to make the room happen.

"We've got a lot of different areas. Light therapy, deep pressure therapy. Really something for every child with every special need," said Moore.

"We could have never done something like this on our own, and the results are just amazing," said Susan Watson with United Cerebral Palsy.

She says the volunteers' hard work will have a lasting impact on countless children.

"We just cannot express our appreciation," she said. "To be able to see the children go in there and enjoy it as much as they are today. We know that will be every day from now on."
