MOBILE, Alabama (WALA) - The young life of Christopher Kyser Miree known as Kyser, was taken police say Friday night. Miree, a 2009 Vanderbilt graduate was found shot in his home on Macy Place in Mobile. His family, who lives in Birmingham, is in complete shock over this tragic loss.

When Mobile Police arrived at Miree's home, he had already been taken to USA Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

"We are going to investigate this as a homicide and try to determine what events led up to him getting shot," said Officer Chris Levy.

Police said there are many unanswered questions in this investigation.

Kyser Miree's dad tried to hold back tears as he talked about his son.

"It has torn a hole in our family that I don't think we can ever fill," said Ben Miree.

Ben Miree talked about how proud he was of his son, and how his younger brother Harry is taking this the hardest.

"They have talked about those things like their careers. How Kyser would be an awesome uncle when Harry has children and how they wanted to stay together," said Miree.

He said what happened this weekend can't be put into words, but what he can say is that he wants to know what happened to his son.

"My family is devastated by the fact that somebody, that some despicable excuse for a human being, would come into Kyser's home and shoot him in a senseless sort of way," said Miree.

Ben Miree ended the interview by saying holding their family together is now the top priority. He pleaded that if anyone has any information to please contact police.

There is going to be a memorial service for Kyser Tuesday in Birmingham.

Mobile Police are continuing to work on the details as to what may have happened that Friday evening.

They do not believe it was suicide.

Kyser Miree graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was President of the Mechanical Engineering Honor Society, Vice President of the Vanderbilt Aerospace Club, and Presidemt of the school's Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. After graduating, he moved to Mobile to take a job with Chevron as an engineer.
