DA subpoenas Prichard water records

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - The Mobile County District Attorney's Office has subpoenaed financial records from the Prichard Water Works and Sewer Board.

It's the second time this year that prosecutors have taken action regarding the Prichard utility, a target of public protests over high water bills.

This latest subpoena comes after the financially troubled utility resisted a takeover from the Mobile Area Water & Sewer System, which requested a collection of financial reports in April.

It's unclear why the prosecutor's office sought the Prichard records. The water board's attorney declined to comment.
