MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions expects EADS would assemble Air Force refueling tankers in Mobile, should it win the $35 billion contract.
During an interview from Washington, Sessions told Fox 10 News anchor Bob Grip, "I would expect so, yes. I don't think there would be any change in that. I would be surprised if anything like were to occur."
While EADS has expressed renewed interest in the deal, the Pentagon would have to extend the time allotted for bids to give the company enough time to put together a proposal. Grip asked Sessions when he expected the Pentagon to make up its mind on the timeline for submitting bids. He said, "I don't know, but I expect it should be relatively soon because if an extension is not granted it may well be that it will be impossible for EADS to make the bid as a private contractor."
