BAY MINETTE, Ala. - The Baldwin County Commission approved sending a tax referendum to voters, but with revisions.

The vote was reached on Tuesday, December 8.

Voters will vote on a one cent sales tax to be used exclusively by the Baldwin County Board of Education. The tax is worth $25 million a year. However, the tax would only last for three years.

The decision took more than an hour to decide. A huge discussion was made about whether Faulkner State should receive some of that money. Faulkner leaders say that their institution is part of the public education system in Baldwin County. Therefore, Faulkner students should be entitled to the money as well.

However, commissioners decided that they would not include Faulkner State in the referendum.

Tuesday night on FOX10 News, commissioners give their thoughts on why they reached Tuesday's decision.
