Santa Rosa Co. launches Facebook page

SANTA ROSA COUNTy, Fla. - Santa Rosa County launched a Facebook page Thursday, titled "Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners," as a way to enhance communication with residents and other interested members of the public.

Facebook is another virtual tool the county is using to inform residents and business owners of the latest news, upcoming events, public meetings and photos. Those with Facebook accounts can access the information by becoming a "fan" of the page.

Facebook is a free social networking site used by many companies and organizations, as well as communities, to communicate with people both inside and outside their association. Initially started for college students, Facebook has grown to become one of the largest social networking sites with over 200,000,000 members worldwide. According to Facebook, more than two-thirds of Facebook users are outside of college and the fastest demographic is those 35 years old and older.
