MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - School bells will be ringing pretty soon. Students in Escambia County, Fla. schools head back to school on August 20.

Parents, with students in the district, can take advantage of free or reduced meals. The applications are normally sent home with students during the first week of school, but parents can fill them out now.

The Escambia County School district is accepting free and reduced meal applications online.

Children living in households whose monthly income falls within the Income Guidelines released by the USDA for reduced meals qualify.

Simply log onto this website and fill out basic information, like the student's birth date and name and /or student ID.

Once the application has been processed, parents will be notified if they qualify.

The benefits of starting early online are pretty obvious:

  • It’s faster than paper applications
  • It can be completed at any time, day or night
  • All students in the household can be entered at the same time

Incidentally, there are no charges or fees to use the online application.
