DAILY DOT COM Search engine giant Google - Search engine giant Google is adding another app to its application repertoire. It’s called Google Keep .
‘Keep’ is a new note taking service that is meant to replace physical notepads by giving users a quick place to jot down reminders or lists.
It's a lot like Evernote, another web-based note taking application that has some 50-million users.
Both Evernote and Keep will sync information between accounts. And also like Evernote, Google Keep will transcribe voice notes.
Perhaps the biggest difference between the two is that Google Keep is well…from Google. So users will have the benefit of integrating it with other Google products like Gmail and Google Calendar.
Wednesday, March 20 marked the official launch; although the app popped up in Google Drive last week.
As stated in a blog post , with Google Keep users can:
• Use homescreen widgets to capture thoughts quickly
• Color-code your notes to help find them later
• Swipe to archive things you no longer need
• Turn a note into a checklist by adding checkboxes
The notes can be color-coded, or users can edit an existing note by adding a picture to it if they want.
All notes are stored in Google Drive and available on the web.
Once you are done with the note --you can archive, or delete it with just a few clicks.
The app is available for download right now via Google Play for devices running Android 4.0 or above. No word on whether it will come to iOS.
