DAILY DOT COM - Best Buy, Radio Shack and now Google? According to 9to5Google.com, Google retail stores could soon be on the way.
The online tech forum cite an unidentified source as confirming that Google is building stand alone stores in major cities in the U.S.
Reportedly, the stores could open in time for the holidays this year. The stores would allow consumers to test out Google's products like, Google Glass, before buying them.
Google would join the likes of Apple and Microsoft if the move comes to fruition. Apple opened its first physical retail stores in Glendale, California and McLean, Virginia in 2011. Many tech guru's say the company significantly benefited from the shift.
And Microsoft has also opened several retail stores to showcase its Windows 8 operating system and new line of Surface tablets.
FOX10 News reached out to Google for confirmation on the report, and the tech titan would neither confirm nor deny the possibility of opening stand alone stores. "Thank you for reaching out. We don't comment on rumor or speculation, however," said Niki Fenwick, Google representative.
