DAILY DOT COM - Know before you go - that's the premise of a new program aimed at helping vacationers and locals plan their summer trips to the beach.

Chances are, you have heard of social group buying sites like GroupOn and LivingSocial. These sites are known for offering daily deals and deep discounts.

Developers say the MPAC card works the same way, only it's tailored to the Gulf Coast and puts a discount vehicle right in the consumer's hands.

Through the website, customers can learn about deals being offered at participating stores. They can also check out the vendors' Facebook pages and websites, see locations and plan out their shopping, dining and entertainment experiences.

The program started in May 2012. It offers discounts for Mobile, Pensacola Destin, and Panama City. Users can go online or scan the QR code on the card with their smart phone to go the site and decide where they want go.

The cards can be found through rental management companies, at welcome stations, toll booths and also local hotels. The goal is to bring in new customers while promoting loyalty to existing ones.Know before you go - that's the premise of a new program aimed at helping vacationers and locals plan their summer trips to the beach.
