Hologram technology resurrects Tupac

DAILY DOT COM (WALA) - A hologram of deceased rapper Tupac Shakur stole the show at the Coachella Music Festival in  California.

Tupac was murdered in 1996.  He was "resurrected" by the folks at AV Concepts.  The company said the  technology uses uncompressed HD video that can be projected as holograms, or as a 3D image on building exteriors, interior walls, stage sets and other structures.

Reportedly, the effect was carried off by mixing existing footage of Tupac onstage --then to create the new performance, his moves were spliced together.

The images are then projected onto a reflective surface on the floor.

Here's the link to the final product that the audience sees:

We've seen these kinds of holograms before, especially in concerts and music video and the Gorillaz' live show; depicting a "virtual band" of cartoon characters.

AV concepts admits the hologram was months in the making but wouldn't give specifics on the cost.

Interestingly enough, the hologram already has a Twitter page, with more than 13,000 followers
