DAILY DOT COM - March Madness 2013 is here!  With the field set, fans are feverishly studying their brackets to figure what upset they can pick to win.

Gone are the days of filling out paper brackets…in today’s world you can do it all on your smart-phone or tablet.

According to Verizon Wireless representatives, smart-phones have become the way. People use them to do a number of things, and keeping up with the updates and scores in the Big Dance is just one of them.

Here is a look at the most downloaded NCAA apps from the folks at Verizon Wireless in Mobile.

March Madness Live - the official tournament app that lets basketball fans view the games from their Android or Apple device.

NCAA Sports - follow all the NCAA action no matter where you are with real-time updates of the game and video highlights.  It’s compatible with iPhone or iPod touch device running iOS4.1 or higher.

Simple Bracket – requires a Twitter account to sign up and participate.  Keeps track of brackets and scoring but also makes use of Twitter to connect you with your fellow bracketeers.  You can award badges when a certain outcome occurs, like winning a game by a buzzer beater.

2013 Brackets – fillable brackets are automatically initialized after selection ceremony and easily filled by tapping a visual chart.  The app customizes news, scores, schedules, and stats on the tournament, and lets users keep a pool on their device, or use private internet pools.

With the plethora of applications to choose from, Verizon Wireless offers free wireless workshop classes to help the not so tech-savvy crowd get the full use of their mobile devices.
