DAILY DOT COM - According to reports, Samsung is gearing up to launch the latest version in its Galaxy line. Samsung is based in South Korea and a newspaper there is reporting that the smart phone will be introduced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona , Spain. The global event is one of the biggest of its kind and runs February 25-28, 2013.
The Korea Times reports that the Galaxy S4 will have a 5-inch screen, an inch bigger than the iPhone 5, and will likely use the latest of Google’s Android software when it ships in March. The report also suggests that the S4 will use the 4G LTE networks.
The news comes days after Apple announced the release of the iPhone 5. The competition between Apple and Samsung has reached epic proportions. Three weeks ago, a jury in California ruled that Samsung owes Apple $1.05 billion for violating patents on features of the iPhone and iPad. The case was just one of roughly 50 patent disputes in different countries. Some of the other courts have ruled in favor of Samsung.
Samsung is the biggest maker of cell phones but slightly behind Apple in terms of global sales. Apple started taking pre-orders for its new iPhone Friday. The company reports that sales of the device topped 2 million in just 24 hours. Samsung expects sales of the S3 to pass 30 million by the end of the year. It has already sold 20 million in just over three months.
