Yahoo's IntoNow 3.0

DAILY DOT COM - Yahoo is taking your television viewing experience and kicking it up a notch.  The search engine company unveiled the updated version of its IntoNow social TV app.  The app lets you connect with friends, capture moments while you watch and discover more about the show.

The app initially launched on January 31, 2011.  Many tech reporters described it as the Shazam for TVs.  Viewers just hold their device up to a television, and IntoNow would listen to the soundtrack, and then identify it with nearly perfect accuracy.

The app still does that now --just a whole lot more with Tuesday's upgrades.

A total of three new features have been added:

  • ·         CapIt: Using industry-first technology, CapIt, gives viewers the ability to caption “did you see that?” TV moments such as a breaking news story, a red carpet dazzler or even a funny scene.  With the tap of a button, the app will instantly deliver still images of what is being shown on the TV screen. Viewers can then select the image they want, add a caption, and share with friends on Facebook, Twitter, or IntoNow.
  • ·         Music Sync: Music Sync is the first technology to automatically identify the music playing during a show – whether a live performance on American Idol or the background music on Grey’s Anatomy.  Songs surfaced in the Music Sync timeline can also be added to your music collection via a one-click purchase or people can view the music video on YouTube.
  • ·         Group Chat: Instantly create private conversations with friends within the IntoNow app, form groups for a particular TV event; or set-up a recurring conversation to talk about favorite shows as the season progresses

The updated app is available for free in the iTunes store. The Android version is expected out within a few months.

If you are interested in learning more about the app, visit the IntoNow website or more details.
