MOBILE, Ala. - UPDATE:  Pedro Perez Hernandez surrendered after appearing on Fox 10 News Fugitive Files.  He is 421st suspect arrested as a direct result of appearing on Fox 10 News Fugitive Files.  He is the 222nd suspect to surrender.

It’s a case of mistaken identity that could have turned tragic.

It happened at a mobile home park on Old Pascagoula Road on Saturday, November 7.

Mobile Police say Pedro Perez Hernandez is now wanted on an assault charge.

Police tell me this all started when Hernandez went looking for a man, whom he thought was living in a mobile home park at 6950 Old Pascagoula Road, Lot 16. He didn't. Things got heated and finally police say, Hernandez started firing at the people in the mobile home.

Mobile Police Corporal Charles Bagsby told me, “Mr. Hernandez pulled a gun from his vehicle and shot the victim one time in the stomach and damaged his intestine and his colon. He then drove off from the scene.”

Hernandez is 51 years old, 5 foot 8 and weighs 150 pounds. If you know where police can find him, call the Fox 10 News Fugitive Files/Crimestoppers Hotline at 251-208-7000.

Witnesses say the man, for whom Hernandez was looking, never lived at the address. Luckily, they were able to get the tag number of the blue Toyota Camry Hernandez was driving (2A47Z48). His last known address is 5662 Highway 90, Lot 18.
