MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Mobile Police say they are looking for William Coleman who reported a robbery on January 20, 2013.  But it turns out after looking for a suspect for 8 days, police determined the crime never happened.

"We spent a little over a week, investigating a crime that never actually occurred, and it used up a lot of resources, a lot of time for when that detective could be looking for actual suspects," said Mobile Police Corporal Christopher Levy.

Coleman is 33 years old, 5 foot 8 inches tall and weighs 175 pounds.  If you know where police can find Coleman,  call the FOX10 News Fugitive Files/Crimestoppers Hotline at 251-208-7000.

Police believe Coleman made up the story about being robbed because he didn't have money to repay a debt.  He has an arrest record dating back to 1998.  It includes charges like attempted murder, assault, cocaine possession and theft.
