It's a new year. It may be time to make some changes in your house - maybe in your children's rooms? Experts say now is a big re-decorating time, with the new year's sales and discounts. But, before you get started changing things up for your little ones, a few things to keep in mind!
Rebecca Woolf is a Mom of four, a blogger and a decorator. She says the rules for decorating kids' rooms are pretty lax. Basically, focus on what they like, and go from there.
Rebecca explains, "I definitely think you want the kids to be involved in the design. It's so important for the children to have a hand in what the room is going to look like. I mean, this isn't your living room. This is their bedroom. So you want it to reflect their interests."
Rebecca says some easy - and inexpensive - ways to update include changing out knobs on the furniture and colors on the walls. Both can be done quickly without breaking the bank. And, she reminds us when it comes to decorating, to use the entire space. Meaning decorate up. You can hang bookshelves, shadow boxes and art on the walls to change the look of a room. Also, try bulletin boards. They're an easy way to update because our kids can change out what's on them and keep things new and current. The most important thing is to make the space special for our little ones, and really make it theirs!
