MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Grills are heating up all over town for some delicious dinners tonight, but we don't have to stick to typical grill fare.

This is prime-time of the year for summer fruits and vegetables, and they are a perfect idea for the grill.

Victoria Von Biel is with Organic Gardening magazine.

She suggests we throw some of those summer fruits and vegetables on the grill for an easy, healthy meal. And, she says we can get our kids involved in all of this from the beginning.

Von Biel said, “One of the things we talk about all the time here at Organic Gardening magazine is to get your kids involved in growing what you eat. Because if they are involved in growing them, they are more likely to eat them.”

Von Biel says we should look at all things summer to grill. Things like watermelon, tomatoes, corn on the cob are all good options. She says grilling brings out the essential sweetness in foods.

And, because there is so much available right now, grilling can be a cheaper option when it comes to meals.

Von Biel says it can also be healthier. There are a plethora of recipes using fruits and vegetables, fish and chicken and all kinds of things.
