MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WALA) - Women Democratic lawmakers in Alabama are upset that the Republicans are pushing bills limiting abortions and some types of birth control.

Veteran Democratic Rep. Laura Hall of Huntsville said it seems the Republicans have adopted an "anti-female" agenda. She said an example is a bill that places stricter regulations on abortion clinics. Opponents say it would force some clinics to close while supporters say it would make abortions safer.

The bill has passed the House and is pending in the Senate.

Hall said she believes the intent of Republicans is to make services like abortion and in some cases birth control unavailable to women.

House Majority Leader Republican Rep. Micky Hammon says that's not the case and that Republican women in the Legislature have voted for the GOP agenda.
