Polling sites, voters prepare for election

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - After months of anticipation, many of you are getting ready to cast your vote. Whether it's your first time voting or you’ve voted so many times you've lost count, before you leave your home remember one thing.

"The most important thing is for them to have a form of ID with them when they go to the polls. There are many acceptable forms of ID, they don't al involve photo ID," said Mobile County Probate Judge Don Davis.

In Alabama, some of the acceptable forms of ID include your social security card, driver's license, or a current utility bill. Not all identification requires a picture ID. In Florida, that's a little different.

Florida requires each voter to present a picture and signature ID.

No matter where you live, Davis said you must have identification to vote. In the case of just being at the wrong location, that may be acceptable.

"No one will be turned away from a poll to vote. We want voters to go to the correct poll which corresponds to where they reside in the county," Davis said.

Davis said he expects a busy day.

"The main thing is, we're expecting heavy voter turnout. We're encouraging people to get to the poll as quickly as they can and anticipate it may take some time," Davis said.

Davis said to remember if you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask a poll worker.
