TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Republican voters in Florida will decide next Tuesday who should challenge Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson in December.
From Connie Mack IV's perspective, it's a decision that was made months ago.
Mack is the considered the heavy favorite in a primary that's seen a crowded field get smaller and smaller as candidates dropped out. Mack's campaign declined to debate other opponents, saying it was clear the choice was between him and Nelson.
Former Rep. Dave Weldon is still competing in the race, but he has little money and isn't well known around the state. Weldon got in the race three months before the primary, leaving him little time to mount a campaign in a state with 4 million Republican voters.
