ESCAMBIA, Fla. (WALA) - Republicans across Escambia County, Fla. gathered at the Miller's Pensacola Alehouse for an election night watch party.

Local Republican officials walked away disappointed after FOX News called the presidential election for Barack Obama.

Chairman of the Republican Party for Escambia County, Susan Moore said volunteers and local  republicans expected the race to the White House to be much closer.

President Obama was projected to win before the state of Florida was even called.

“We’re just a bit shocked I guess,” said Moore.

She said however she will support President Obama during his next four years, but is hoping for a different outcome this time around.

Moore thanked all the local volunteers and Republican Party chairs who have been tirelessly campaigning throughout the region; specifically Northwest Florida.
